Owner and Operator
Billy is the current owner of Edge Academy, which operates basketball, soccer and baseball club sports and training programs throughout the state of Maine (including Maine Lightning). Bill has been in the baseball/softball instructional business since 1998. Billy grew up in Worcester, Mass and continued his baseball playing career at the University of Southern Maine. Billy was captain (SS) of the 1997 Division 3 World Series team. Following his collegiate playing career, Billy has coached at the college level (USM), AAU summer travel team; College PREP Fall DEVO team and has worked individually with many HS players that have gone on to play at the college & professional levels. Billy has been with The EDGE Academy since 2001.
Director of Operations
Jeff Mitchell was named the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at Cape Elizabeth HS in the fall of 2020. Most recently Mitchell was the Assistant Coach for the Cape Elizabeth Girls Varsity team with from 2017 to 2020 as well as an active youth coach in various leagues in Southern Maine. Born and raised in Cape Elizabeth, Mitchell played soccer, basketball and lacrosse including four years of varsity basketball at CEHS. Outside of coaching the varsity team, Coach Mitchell runs a digital marketing and creative agency based in Boston and Portland. Mitchell is responsible for the operations involved with Maine Lightning as well as helping with program development.
